Dominion Jewelers has been a Falls Church staple since 1985, founded by brothers-in-law Mohammad Barimany, a gemologist, and Jairo Rojas, a Rhode Island School of Design-trained craftsman. The two originally focused on high-end custom manufacturing for other jewelers in the D.C. area, filling a gap that had previously sent customers to New York or L.A. for that kind of work. Word of mouth eventually pulled the business toward direct retail, and today the shop is mostly consumer-facing while still serving a smaller wholesale clientele. The company relocated in 2013 from Rowell Court to its current, larger space on West Broad Street.
Dominion remains a true family business. Mohammad's daughter, Rachelle Barimany, serves as Chief Operations and Financial Officer, and Jairo's son, Sergio Rojas, leads the company today as CEO. Together, the second generation has carried forward the founders' original vision and values while growing the business into one of Northern Virginia's premier jewelry destinations.
A defining feature of Dominion is that roughly 80 percent of its jewelry is made in-house, with the team producing 25 to 35 pieces a week, including 80 to 100 custom engagement rings a month. The store stays attuned to evolving style trends, from a shift back toward yellow gold over platinum, to more colored center stones like sapphires, streamlined settings with hidden halos, and stacked-band looks that echo late-'70s and '80s two-stone designs.
